Panasonic Industry to Double MEGTRON Circuit Board Production by 2028 to Support AI and ICT Infrastructure Growth
Panasonic Group announced plans to double its global production capacity for MEGTRON multi-layer circuit board materials over the next five years to meet increasing demand in AI server and ICT infrastructure markets. The company will invest approximately 17 billion yen to construct a new manufacturing facility at its Ayutthaya Plant in Thailand, located at Rojana Industrial Park, 1/69 Moo5 Rojana Road, Tambol Kanham, Amphur Uthai, Ayutthaya, Thailand, 13210, on the grounds of Panasonic Manufacturing Ayutthaya Co., Ltd. The facility, with a gross floor area of approximately 19,400 m², is scheduled to begin operations in November 2027, with mass production planned by the end of fiscal year 2028.
The expansion addresses the rising need for high-speed, high-capacity communication hardware driven by generative AI. MEGTRON materials, designed for low transmission loss, support stable and efficient signal transmission in servers, switches, and routers, reducing signal degradation, heat generation, and power consumption in ICT infrastructure devices. The new facility will adopt the “Slim & Smart Factory” concept, incorporating advanced automation and energy-efficient technologies to align with Panasonic’s sustainability goals.
