Lantronix’s Open-Q SOM Earns 2025 IoT Product Award for Edge AI in Drone Technology

Lantronix announced that its TAA/NDAA-compliant Open-Q System-on-Module (SOM), utilized in drone development for defense unmanned aerial vehicles, received the 2025 IoT Evolution Product of the Year Award from IoT Evolution World. The SOM supports advanced thermal image processing and Edge AI for drone applications.

The Open-Q SOM, based on the Qualcomm Dragonwing QRB5165 processor, is integrated into Teledyne/FLIR thermal cameras for drones and was selected by Teal Drones, a Red Cat Holdings Inc. company, for its Black Widow drones under the U.S. Army’s Short-Range Reconnaissance (SRR) Program. It meets TAA and NDAA compliance requirements for Department of Defense missions, supporting deployment in sensitive applications. Lantronix’s solution has been adopted by 10 drone manufacturers, contributing to advancements in the defense and autonomous systems market.
