Diodes Incorporated and Texas A&M Collaborate on Semiconductor Education Initiative with $100,000 Donation

Diodes Incorporated, through its Diodes Foundation, has donated $100,000 to Texas A&M University to fund a graduate student initiative focused on semiconductor research and training. The program supports master’s students and Ph.D. candidates in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, covering areas such as chip design, machine learning, semiconductor fabrication, and biomedical applications.

Dr. Pao-Tai Lin, an associate professor in the department, stated that the initiative provides hands-on learning and serves as a bridge between the university and the semiconductor industry. Students utilize real equipment, run simulations, design printed circuit boards, and explore practical applications of their work.

Gary Yu, CEO and President of Diodes, noted that the program aims to enhance students’ skills as future engineers and researchers, enabling them to contribute innovations earlier in their careers. The initiative fosters cross-disciplinary collaboration, involving students from electrical engineering, industrial engineering, and physics.

Electrical engineering graduate student William Noxon, who joined the program in May 2024, described designing and printing electronic circuits, programming microcontroller boards, and integrating software with semiconductor hardware. He highlighted the value of working with diverse peer...
