AR Glasses Market to Hit 32.1 Million Units by 2030 as Tech Giants Boost Investment
The augmented reality (AR) glasses market is set to grow significantly, with global shipments projected to reach 600,000 units in 2025, according to TrendForce’s “2025 Near-Eye Display Market Outlook and Technology Analysis.” The growth is driven by international brands introducing prototypes and Meta’s upcoming launch of its Celeste AR glasses, alongside declining prices for OLEDoS products.
By 2030, AR glasses shipments are expected to reach 32.1 million units, fueled by strong demand for notification-style AR glasses and advancements in full-color AR technology. While China currently leads AR shipments, the involvement of major players like Meta and Google is projected to reduce China’s market share to 50.2% by 2030.
AI integration is influencing consumer expectations for AR applications and driving the development of standardized specifications. Brands are targeting optical engines with power consumption below 300 mW, volumes under 1 cc, and weights less than 3g, which increases technological complexity but promotes specification convergence.
Current mainstream LEDoS and LCoS panels range from 0.13 to 0.18 inches with pixel densities exceeding 5,500 PPI. LEDoS resolutions are typically between 640x480 and 720x720, while most LCoS panels are at 720x720. Future standardization of CMOS substrate dimensions and designs is ex...
