Synopsys Boosts AI Capabilities in EDA Solutions to Streamline Chip Design, Announces New Copilot Features
Synopsys has expanded its Synopsys.ai Copilot generative AI (GenAI) capabilities for its electronic design automation (EDA) solutions, aiming to accelerate semiconductor development timelines and support complex designs amid workforce shortages, according to a Synopsys announcement. The enhancements, part of the Synopsys.ai suite, incorporate reinforcement learning and GenAI to optimize silicon performance and reduce time to market.
The Synopsys.ai Copilot includes assistive and creative GenAI capabilities. Assistive features, such as the knowledge assistant and workflow assistant, are used by top customers to improve engineer productivity. The knowledge assistant reduces ramp time for early-career engineers by 30%, while documentation searches and script generation now take minutes instead of hours. The workflow assistant, when used with Synopsys PrimeTime, generates scripts 10X-20X faster than traditional methods, improving script solution times by 2X on average. These capabilities are available to all Synopsys Cloud users, including over 100 startups on SaaS and Bring Your Own Cloud platforms.
