Tata Electronics, C-DAC Sign MoU to Develop Indigenous Semiconductor IP at SEMICON India 2025

Tata Electronics and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance India’s semiconductor design and intellectual property (IP) ecosystem. The agreement was formalized during SEMICON India 2025 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, in the presence of Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Railways, and Electronics & Information Technology. The MoU was signed by Dr. Randhir Thakur, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Electronics, and Shri E. Magesh, Director General of C-DAC.

The collaboration aims to develop indigenous semiconductor design capabilities and strengthen India’s technological sovereignty. Tata Electronics, which is establishing India’s first commercial semiconductor fabrication facility (Fab) in Dholera, Gujarat, with an investment of INR 91,000 crores (~US$11 billion), and an Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Jagiroad, Assam, with an investment of INR 27,000 crores (~US$3 billion), will leverage its manufacturing capabilities to support this initiative.
