Lam Research Celebrates 10 Years of Partnership with IISc at SEMICON India 2025, Advances Semiconductor Talent Development

Semiconductor etch equipment expert Lam Research commemorated a decade of partnership with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) during a ceremony held alongside SEMICON India 2025 in New Delhi. Lam's tools enable advanced chip fabs in making mutlilayer 3D memory chips, FinFET and nanosheet transistor based logic chips such as AI GPUs.

The collaboration, initiated in 2014 through IISc’s Industry Affiliate Program, has expanded significantly over the years. Lam Research India’s corporate vice president and general manager, Rangesh Raghavan, highlighted the partnership’s role in supporting early learning and research to build a talent pipeline for India’s semiconductor industry. The initiative aligns with Lam’s global Unlock Ideas program, enabling second-year MTech students in mechanical and electrical engineering to engage in research on topics such as thermal management, additive manufacturing, and Equipment Intelligence under IISc faculty guidance.

In July 2023, Lam Research and IISc’s Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch a pilot program utilizing Lam’s Semiverse Solutions and SEMulator3D soft...
