Nidec’s Orchard Hub in Karnataka Set to Boost India’s Manufacturing and Sustainability Goals

Nidec Corporation's recently inaugurated Orchard Hub manufacturing campus in the Kotur-Belur Industrial Area of Hubli-Dharwad, Karnataka is expected to start production later in 2025.  The 50-acre facility inaugurated in June 2025 is Nidec’s eighth and largest in India, marks a significant step in the company’s expansion in the region

The Orchard Hub will serve as a manufacturing hub for generators for data centers, wind turbine generators, battery energy storage systems (BESS) for renewable energy, electric vehicle motors, controllers, EV chargers, and high-efficiency motors and drives. Built on Nidec’s 3Q6S lean manufacturing principles with advanced automation, the campus aims to deliver products for domestic and international markets. The facility aligns with India’s “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives, emphasizing local innovation and customer service.

Nidec has committed $55 million to the project, which is expected to create over 1,000 direct and 1,000 indirect jobs in the Hubli-Dharwad  region. Nidec is hiring diploma and ITI students from local institutions. The company also plans to make the campus carbon-neutral by 2028 through solar power, in-house microgrid systems, and BESS technologies.
