Cirrus Logic and GlobalFoundries Partner to Advance U.S. Mixed-Signal Semiconductor Manufacturing
Cirrus Logic and GlobalFoundries have announced an expanded collaboration to develop next-generation BCD (Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) process technology, enabling more efficient and compact mixed-signal chips. The technology will be manufactured at GlobalFoundries’ facility in Malta, New York, alongside existing sites in Singapore and Germany, supporting Cirrus Logic’s mixed-signal product markets and enhancing the geographic diversity of its customers’ semiconductor supply chains.
The partnership also focuses on Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology at GlobalFoundries’ Essex Junction, Vermont facility. GaN-on-silicon offers high-power density and voltage handling for consumer and industrial applications, aiming to expand Cirrus Logic’s mixed-signal and power technology portfolio.
John Forsyth, Cirrus Logic President and CEO, stated that the collaboration aims to advance mixed-signal chip manufacturing in the U.S. and strengthen supply chain resilience. Tim Breen, CEO of GlobalFoundries, noted that the partnership supports domestic manufacturing and the development of chip technologies for future devices. The joint efforts are intended to drive innovation and meet market demands through resilient, geographically diverse supply chains.
