Arm Unveils Neural Technology for AI-Powered Mobile Graphics and Open Development Kit

Arm announced its neural technology at SIGGRAPH, introducing dedicated neural accelerators to its GPUs, set to launch in 2026. This technology targets mobile gaming, productivity tools, and intelligent cameras, enabling up to 50% reduction in GPU workload for intensive mobile content. The first application, Neural Super Sampling (NSS), is an AI-driven upscaling engine that supports resolution increases from 540p to 1080p at 4ms per frame, maintaining near-native quality while allowing developers to balance visual fidelity and energy efficiency.

Arm also launched a publicly available neural graphics development kit, available now, which includes an Unreal Engine plugin, PC-based Vulkan emulation, updated profiling tools, open models on GitHub and Hugging Face, and ML extensions for Vulkan introducing a Graph Pipeline for neural network inference. This kit enables developers to integrate AI-driven rendering into existing workflows, with support from partners including Enduring Games, Epic Games, NetEase Games, Sumo Digital, Tencent Games, and Traverse Research.

In 2026, Arm plans to expand its neural technology with Neural Frame Rate Upscaling, which aims to double frame rates without increasing rendering load, and Neural Super ...
