MediaTek Pioneers Google’s Project Treble Integration for Automotive Firmware Upgrades

MediaTek has announced its commitment as the first partner to adopt Google’s Project Treble for the automotive ecosystem. The initiative ensures at least four years of firmware upgrades and maintenance patches, aiming to enhance partner support, reduce total costs, protect user data, and extend the lifecycle of automotive products.

Two MediaTek products, the MT8678 and MT8676, will support Project Treble at launch. Partners will incur no additional fees for major upgrades or maintenance updates, lowering the total cost of ownership.

Mike Chang, Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Automotive Business at MediaTek, stated that the collaboration with Google builds on their history across product categories. The MT8678 and MT8676 are currently available on the market.
