India-Germany Forge Semiconductor Collaboration Roadmap at 7th Fraunhofer FIT Forum in New Delhi

On 31st of July , 2025, India and Germany advanced their partnership in microelectronics and semiconductor technology during the 7th Fraunhofer Innovation and Technology Platform (FIT) held in New Delhi. Organized by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft with support from India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the day-long forum brought together leaders from research, industry, and government to focus on semiconductor R&D, advanced packaging, sensor systems, and workforce development.

Ms. Anandi Iyer, Director of Fraunhofer India, opened the event, describing FIT as a platform for co-creating solutions, scaling applied research, and driving industrial transformation. The forum featured keynote sessions, technical discussions, and roundtables addressing challenges such as heterogeneous integration, reliability engineering, and innovation in MEMS, CMOS, and power electronics.

Prof. Dr. Albert Heuberger, Executive Director of Fraunhofer IIS, emphasized the importance of microelectronics, stating, “Microelectronics is not optional.
