Apple Boosts U.S. Investment to $600 Billion with New American Manufacturing Program

On August 7, 2025, Apple announced an increase in its U.S. investment to $600 billion over the next four years, up from a previous $100 billion commitment. This includes the launch of the American Manufacturing Program (AMP), aimed at expanding Apple’s supply chain and advanced manufacturing within the United States. The initiative encourages global companies to produce critical components domestically.

Apple currently supports over 450,000 jobs through thousands of suppliers across all 50 states, with significant operations in Arizona, California, Iowa, Kentucky, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Utah. Over the next four years, the company plans to hire 20,000 additional U.S. employees, primarily in research and development, silicon engineering, software development, and AI and machine learning.

The AMP involves partnerships with companies including Corning, Coherent, GlobalWafers America (GWA), Applied Materials, Texas Instruments (TI), Samsung, GlobalFoundries, Amkor, and Broadcom. This builds on a July commitment to source rare earth magnets from MP Materials. A key project under AMP is the expansion of Apple’s partnership with Corning, establishing the world’s largest smartphone glass production line in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.
