SPARK Microsystems and Softgent Partner to Advance UWB Wireless Solutions for Healthcare and Industrial IoT
SPARK Microsystems, a Canadian fabless semiconductor company focused on next-generation short-range wireless communications, has entered into a collaboration with Softgent to support customers in developing wireless communication and positioning solutions for healthcare and industrial markets. The partnership integrates SPARK’s ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, specifically its second-generation SR1120 transceiver, with Softgent’s scalable platforms to provide IoT connectivity, positioning, ranging, and tracking.
The collaboration leverages SPARK’s LE-UWB technology, which offers data delivery at 40.96 Mbps, a 40 times higher than Bluetooth, while maintaining lower power consumption, reduced latency, and improved interference robustness compared to Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 2.4 GHz solutions. Unlike other UWB offerings primarily focused on ranging and positioning, SPARK’s technology provides comparable ranging capabilities at approximately 100 times lower power consumption, with a cost-effective architecture. This enables battery life extensions up to 10 times longer than Bluetooth without compromising performance.
Softgent’s design expertise complements SPARK’s technology, offering customers integrated UWB-based platforms tailored for high-performance wireless IoT applications. The partnership aims to accelerate customers’ ...
