Codasip Integrates Silicon Creations’ PLL into RISC-V Automotive Safety-Critical Core

Silicon Creations has integrated its low-area integer PLL into Codasip’s L31AS dual-core lock-step CPU and crypto accelerator test chip, supporting the evaluation of Codasip’s automotive-grade RISC-V core. The collaboration focuses on providing clocking solutions for safety-critical automotive applications.

Codasip’s L31AS CPU, designed for high-performance automotive systems, requires precise clocking to meet industry standards. Silicon Creations’ PLL was selected for its small footprint, proven silicon performance, ease of integration, and low-jitter digital clock generation, which minimizes silicon area and system complexity while meeting the necessary performance requirements.

Randy Caplan, co-founder of Silicon Creations, stated that the PLL supports Codasip’s RISC-V processor development by providing an optimized digital clocking solution. Paul Elliott, Senior Security and Safety Architect at Codasip, noted that the PLL integration marks a significant step in advancing their automotive and embedded system solutions, with the PLL’s reliability supporting future designs.

The successful test chip evaluation strengthens Codasip’s focus on RISC-V-based technologies for automotive and embedded markets. The partnership with Silicon Creations highlights the role of IP collaborations in meeting industry requirements...
