Tekscend Photomask Bolsters European Semiconductor Supply with New SLX1 Laser Writer Installation
Tekscend Photomask, previously Toppan Photomask, has installed the Mycronic SLX1 laser writer at its Corbeil, France facility, marking the first European deployment of this advanced photomask writing system. As the world’s largest merchant photomask supplier for the semiconductor industry, Tekscend aims to enhance Europe’s semiconductor ecosystem through this strategic investment.
The SLX1 system increases productivity and diversifies photomask offerings at the CorbeLand facility, which collaborates with Tekscend’s Advanced Mask Technology Center (AMTC) in Dresden, Germany. The Corbeil site produces a range of photomasks, from standard laser-written masks to high-end eBeam technologies for advanced nodes. The SLX1 provides faster writing speeds, improved quality, and greater manufacturing flexibility, enabling support for more complex mask designs. It also replaces end-of-life tools, ensuring operational continuity and making Tekscend the only photomask supplier actively investing in tool replacement for European semiconductor manufacturers.
Tekscend Europe President Adrian Phillips emphasized the critical role of photomasks, stating, “No masks – no chips!” He highlighted the investment as a commitment to supporting customers and advancing Europe’s semiconductor industry, inviting stronger partnerships. The SLX1 complem...
