AI and Advanced Tech Drive Semiconductor Equipment Sales to Record $125.5 Billion in 2025
Global sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are projected to reach $125.5 billion in 2025, a 7.4% increase from the previous year, according to SEMI’s Mid-Year Total Semiconductor Equipment Forecast – OEM Perspective. The forecast indicates continued growth in 2026, with sales expected to hit $138.1 billion, driven by demand for leading-edge logic, memory, and technology transitions, particularly for AI applications.
The Wafer Fab Equipment (WFE) segment, encompassing wafer processing, fab facilities, and mask/reticle equipment, is expected to grow 6.2% to $110.8 billion in 2025, up from $104.3 billion in 2024. This growth, revised upward from SEMI’s earlier $107.6 billion estimate, is fueled by increased sales to foundry and memory applications. In 2026, WFE sales are projected to rise 10.2% to $122.1 billion, supported by capacity expansions for AI and process technology migrations.

The back-end equipment segment is also set to grow. Semiconductor test equipment sales are forecast to increase 23.2% to $9.3 billion in 2025, following a 20.3% rise in 2024. Assembly and packaging equipment sales, which grew 25.4% in 2024, are projected to increase 7.7% to $...
