Indian students in Japan's Kyoto University’s KU-STAR program visit Samco to observe semiconductor equipment manufacturing

 On June 2, 2025,  Japan based Samco Inc.  hosted seven students from Kyoto University’s Short-Term Academic Research (KU-STAR) Program for India 2025 at its Kyoto headquarters. The students, part of a 59-day academic exchange program at Kyoto University, are engaged in research internships, Japanese language studies, and visits to Japanese companies.
Selected from over 500 applicants, the students represent institutions including IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Hyderabad, and IISc Bangalore. Their academic disciplines include biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, chemistry, sustainable technologies, and materials science.
During the visit, the students toured Samco’s production floor and cleanroom to observe semiconductor equipment manufacturing processes. They also visited the company’s in-house museum, which details Samco’s history and development since its founding in 1979. A presentation by Samco engineer Dr. Hemanth covered his transition from India to Japan, his role at the company, and Samco’s technological focus. The students also met Samco’s founder and CEO, Mr. Osamu Tsuji, who offered brief remarks and encouragement for their academic and professional pursuits.
