Karnataka advances quantum innovation with phase 2 of Quantum Research Park at IISc Bengaluru
Karnataka is doubling down on its commitment to quantum science with the launch of Phase 2 of the Quantum Research Park at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. Backed by a ₹48 crore investment and led by the Foundation for Science, Innovation, and Development (FSID), this initiative is set to transform the landscape for students, researchers, and innovators in quantum technologies.
“This initiative will strengthen Karnataka’s leadership in quantum research, skill-building and innovation,” said Minister Kharge. The expanded facility will serve as a collaborative hub for academia, startups, and industry to advance frontier technologies.
The Quantum Research Park is a launchpad for the next generation of quantum scientists. Equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, including optical cryostats, quantum control systems, and Nd:YAG lasers, the park provides access to tools typically found only in elite global laboratories. Phase 2 will expand this infrastructure, enabling deeper exploration in key areas:
Quantum sensing
Quantum communication
Quantum materials
The new phase aims to scale these efforts, offering enhanced research capabilities and broader industry engagement.
