CMTI launches level 2 laboratory training on semiconductor packaging in Bengaluru
The Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), inaugurated its Level 2 Laboratory Training on Semiconductor Packaging on May 12, 2025, at its facility in Bengaluru. The five-day programme, co-organized by CMTI, targets participants from industry, R&D organizations, and academia, offering hands-on training and advanced packaging process modules.

The training, conducted at CMTI’s Sensor Technology Development Center (STDC), includes expert-led theoretical sessions, guided practical training with industry-grade packaging tools, and exposure to cleanroom protocols and semiconductor process workflows. It is designed for professionals with 1–2 years of industry experience and aims to address critical skill gaps in semiconductor manufacturing, particularly in assembly, testing, marking, and packaging (ATMP).
During the inauguration, Suraj Rengarajan, Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer of Applied Materials India, highlighted the importance of hands-on skilling to bridge the talent gap in India’s semiconductor sector. He emphasized collaborative efforts between academia, semiconductor companies, and organizations to develop industry-ready talent and foster a sustainable semico...
