Global recent top research in semiconductor by country, company and university

In recent years semiconductor research papers prominently featured several key subjects driven by technological advancements and industry demands. Generative AI and high-performance computing (HPC) topped the list, with a focus on specialized chips like AI accelerators and microprocessors, including GPUs, to meet the rising needs of data centers and edge computing. Advanced packaging techniques, such as 2.5D and 3D chip stacking, gained traction as researchers explored ways to enhance performance and density beyond traditional scaling. Quantum computing emerged as a promising area, with studies on quantum processors and qubits signaling future potential.
