Only the paranoid survive: Does Lip Bu inherit Andy Grove's way of building Intel
Intel founded back in the years when semiconductor chips were invented in late 60s, since then it has unparallel legacy of innovations in silicon transistor shrinking and making it as key element of today's silicon AI brain. Except Arm, no company could eat significantly into its share in the non-GPU processor IP market, though open source RISC V is taking on both very recently. TSMC and Samsung beat Intel post-2010 in chip fabrication at deeper nodes. PC market is Intel's safe haven for decades, but now AMD has grown so big and is challenging Intel in all fronts of PC market. Most recently, Nvidia grew like a big-beast in processor market with its most opted GPU for server and for range of applications shadowing Intel and AMD, with its tall and wide visibility everywhere. Clearly Intel failed to capture the initial big opportunity in AI servers. The AI race has just begun where Intel has enough time to catch up.
If you go by revenue, Intel future looks not as bright as its past. However it has mammoth resources and support from US to gain back its glory. Intel is a multifaceted technology giant, with a product portfolio spanning CPUs for desktops, laptops, and servers, as well as advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, autonomous driving, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
