Renesas to offer Cloud based PCB design by acquiring Altium

Leading Japan based IDM semiconductor chipmaker Renesas acquired Australia based PCB desing software vendor Altium at approximately A$9.1 billion. Through this acquisition, Renesas to offer its customers streamlined electronics design process with improved standardization and speed up electronic product design using Renesas chips. The acquisition brings together Altium's sophisticated cloud platform with Renesas' extensive portfolio of embedded solutions, including high-performance processors, microcontrollers, analog, power, and connectivity chips and help engineers to bring products to market more quickly and efficiently. Renesas and Altium to create a unified platform for electronics system design and lifecycle management. This platform will integrate various design steps, from component selection to simulation and PCB physical design, at a system level. By consolidating these processes, engineers can achieve greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness in product development. The integrated platform will enable collaboration among stakeholders, including engineers, designers, and third-party vendors. By providing access to a centralized repository of electronic design data and functions, the platform promotes collaboration and digital iteration of design processes, ultimately increasing overall productivity.
