PC market recovering with first growth in eight quarters, 2024 looks positive

Market researcher Gartner finds worldwide PC shipments show a 0.3% increase in Q4 2023, marking the first growth after eight consecutive quarters of decline. However the PC shipments for the entire year 2023 reached 241.8 million units, reflecting a 14.8% decrease from 2022, as per Gartner.

This is the first time annual shipments have fallen below 250 million units since 2006.
Gartner predicts a return to annual growth in the PC market in 2024 despite geopolitical and economic uncertainties.
The top six PC vendors maintain their positions in Q4 2023, with Lenovo, HP, Apple, and Acer experiencing growth, while Dell and ASUS decline.
Lenovo sees its first year-over-year growth since Q3 2021, driven by double-digit growth in EMEA and the Americas.
HP records consecutive quarterly growth, while Dell faces its seventh consecutive quarter of year-over-year shipment decline.
The U.S. PC market shows a 1.8% growth in Q4 2023, with HP leading with 27.7% market share.
EMEA experiences its first year-over-year growth since Q4 2021, while the Asia Pacific region, particularly Greater China, faces an 8% decline.
The PC market records its worst year in history in 2023, declining 14.8%, following the post-COVID growth period between 2020 and 2021.
