Snapdragon Seamless enables peripherals and data both on Windows and Android

Date: 25/10/2023
At the recently held Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm unveiled Snapdragon Seamless, a cross-platform technology that facilitates the seamless integration of Android, Windows, and Snapdragon devices with other operating systems. This innovative solution empowers these devices to effortlessly discover one another and exchange information, enabling them to function as a unified and cohesive system.

On average, the 2023 Connected Consumer survey by Deloitte reveals that every US household is equipped with 21 distinct digital devices. However, a common issue arises as these devices often lack seamless communication, particularly when they originate from various manufacturers. Consequently, this limitation diminishes consumer options and fosters a sense of dependency on a single manufacturer to ensure compatibility among their devices.
Device manufacturers and OS partners can elevate and expand their multi-device experiences for consumers with Snapdragon Seamless. For example:
? Mice and keyboards can work seamlessly across PCs, phones and tablets.
? Files and windows can be dragged and dropped across different types of devices.
? Earbuds can switch intelligently based on the priority of an audio source.
? XR can extend the abilities of smartphones.

“Snapdragon Seamless fundamentally breaks down the barriers between OEMs, devices and operating systems. It’s the only cross-device solution to truly put the user first,” said Dino Bekis, VP and GM, wearables and mixed signal solutions, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

Snapdragon Seamless is integrated into Qualcomm mobile platforms, such as their latest high-end mobile platform, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and their newest premium PC platform, Snapdragon X Elite. Additionally, it is also incorporated into their wearable and hearable platforms. In the future, Snapdragon Seamless will expand its reach to XR, Auto, and IoT platforms. Leading technology companies like Microsoft, Android, Xiaomi, ASUS, Honor, Lenovo, and OPPO, among others, are actively partnering with Qualcomm Technologies to facilitate seamless multi-device experiences using Snapdragon Seamless across global device platforms, with implementation expected to commence this year.
