Micron breaks ground to constuct its semiconductor ATMP facility in Gujarat
Technology led Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) company Tata Projects to construct Micron Semiconductor's testing and assembly plant in Sanand GIDC-II industrial estate, Gujarat, India.
US based leading semiconductor memory manufacturer Micron Semiconductor started construction of its semiconductor assembly and test plant in Sanand industrial area, Gujarat by breaking ground in the presence of Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for electronics and IT and Bhupendra Patel Chief Minister of Gujarat.
Micron has handed over construction and building of this project to Tata Projects where construction of phase 1 to include 500K square feet cleanroom space where the production facility construction follows LEED Gold Standards of the Green Building Council integrating advances water-saving technologies. The project is expected to be operational by the end of 2024.
Once operational, this new production facility to make BGA packaged DRAM and NAND flash memory chips, memory modules and solid-state drives.
The project's estimated cost is around US$2.75 Billion, where the Micron is investing US$825 million and the rest from the government of India.
