ChipAgents and NVIDIA Launch Build-A-Chip-Bench for End-to-End Autonomous Chip Design Evaluation
ChipAgents, the agentic AI platform for semiconductor engineering, today introduced Build-A-Chip-Bench, a benchmark built in collaboration with NVIDIA. The joint benchmark is designed to test whether AI agents can carry an end-to-end digital chip-design task from specification through physical implementation and verified Graphic Design System (GDS), measuring progress toward semiconductor design superintelligence.
Build-A-Chip-Bench evaluates AI agents across the end-to-end digital IC design flow, from specification through physical implementation and verified GDS. Unlike point benchmarks focused primarily on RTL generation or verification, it tests whether agents can meet functional, timing, power, area, and physical-verification requirements together.
AI agents are increasingly capable of generating RTL and completing individual semiconductor engineering tasks. Designing a chip requires architectural decisions validated through synthesis, timing closure, placement and routing, power and area constraints, and physical verification before a design is ready for tapeout.
“As chip designs get more complex and time to market pressures increase, we see the need for chip superintelligence that can fully engineer the next generation of silicon,” said William Wang, Founder and CEO of ChipAgents. “The real challenge is carrying engineering inten...
