GSAS Micro Systems opens new manufacturing and expanded R&D facility in Doddaballapur

GSAS Micro Systems has inaugurated a new manufacturing and expanded R&D facility in Doddaballapur, Bengaluru Rural, marking a significant step in the company's evolution from embedded engineering and technology integration toward a deeper in-house product development and manufacturing presence in Karnataka.

Located in the Doddaballapur 3rd Phase Industrial Area, the new facility brings together GSAS's product development, engineering, manufacturing, and project work under a single roof, serving as a working hub for hardware manufacturing, assembly, integration, quality testing, R&D, and new product development.

The expansion comes as Karnataka works to translate its established strengths in electronic design and semiconductor R&D into a broader manufacturing ecosystem. According to the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission, the state contributes 10% of India's total electronics output, nearly 40% of the country's electronic design output, and more than 22% of national electronics exports, while hosting more than 100 fabless semiconductor design companies.

For GSAS, the Doddaballapur facility represents both a business milestone and the realization of a longstanding goal. The company's founder has held the vision of building a dedicated electronics manufacturing base since the 1990s. Bringing that vision to life in Karnataka gives GSAS a permanent home for developing and building more of its own products, while also expanding the engineering infrastructure available for customer-specific programs.

The project also reflects the role Karnataka's industry-led electronics ecosystem has played in helping local electronics companies grow. GSAS credited the Consortium of Electronic Industries of Karnataka (CLIK) and its ESDM Cluster for helping build the Doddaballapur electronics manufacturing ecosystem that has enabled Karnataka electronics companies to make long-term investments in product development and manufacturing. Smt. Uma Reddy, president of FKCCI, is herself a longtime electronics entrepreneur and former president of CLIK, connecting the broader Karnataka industry platform with the state's specialized electronics institutions.

The new GSAS site will support the company's Test Solutions Integration business, government project work, and original design manufacturing (ODM) programs. It will also serve as the manufacturing base for the upcoming Genesis series of microcontroller and FPGA development boards, along with additional GSAS products currently in development.

GSAS has historically combined electronic design tools, test and measurement work, hardware development, and engineering services with development of its own hardware products. The Doddaballapur site brings more of that full lifecycle together physically, spanning engineering and product development through assembly, integration, testing, and production support.

Bengaluru Rural offers an increasingly relevant setting for this kind of expansion. Invest Karnataka identifies electrical and electronics, aerospace, and automotive as major industrial sectors in the district, and lists Doddaballapur and Obadenahalli, part of Doddaballapura Phase 3, among its established industrial areas.

Founded in Bengaluru in 2010, GSAS Micro Systems works across India's embedded and electronics engineering ecosystem. The company views the Doddaballapur facility as an important foundation for what it calls GSAS Vision 2035, strengthening its ability to develop products, take on larger engineering programs, and manufacture more hardware within Karnataka.
