Mike McAuliffe appointed CEO of Cephia to drive AI-native image sensors growth

Cephia, a company developing AI-native image sensor technology, has appointed semiconductor and computer vision industry veteran Mike McAuliffe as its president and chief executive officer.
McAuliffe brings extensive experience building global semiconductor and deep-tech companies, having worked across startups, scale-ups, and public company leadership. He most recently served as CEO of Luminar Semiconductor, where he drove growth through acquisitions that led to the company's eventual purchase by Quantum Computing Inc. Before that, he was CEO of Seeing Machines, where he helped establish the computer vision company as a global leader in automotive driver monitoring systems, technology now deployed in more than six million vehicles on the road today. He's also co-founded or led several semiconductor startups, including Powervation, which he led to an acquisition by Rohm Semiconductor.
McAuliffe said Cephia's platform technology is uniquely able to enable rich, multimodal sensor perception in extremely compact form factors, addressing what he described as the critical needs of physical AI machine vision, meaning AI systems that need to perceive and interact with the physical world.
