Tandem PV acquires nexTC for in-house solar panel coating technology

Tandem PV, a U.S. developer of high-efficiency perovskite-silicon solar panels, has acquired nexTC Corporation, an Oregon-based company specializing in advanced thin-film metal oxide coating processes.
The acquisition brings nexTC's coating technology, intellectual property, and technical expertise directly into Tandem PV, giving the company more control over a key part of its manufacturing process as it scales up its demonstration production line in Fremont and prepares for full commercial-scale manufacturing.
nexTC specializes in solution-based transparent oxide coatings, ultrathin layers applied using a liquid-based chemical process rather than vacuum deposition. In Tandem PV's solar panels, these coatings help manage how electrical charge moves through the panel while still letting sunlight pass through to reach the silicon solar cell underneath. How well these coatings perform has a direct impact on the panel's overall efficiency, durability, and how easily it can be manufactured at scale.
