BEL and Esri India Sign MoU to Advance GIS and GeoAI for Defence Applications

Bharat Electronics Limited, a state-owned defence electronics company, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Esri India Technologies aimed at cooperating on surge deployment for BEL and broader defence services.
 
Under the agreement, the two organizations plan to combine BEL's expertise in defence electronics and systems integration with Esri India's capabilities in GIS (geographic information systems), location intelligence, and GeoAI, which applies AI techniques to geographic and spatial data. The partnership is meant to help ensure GIS solutions can be made available and deployed quickly to meet urgent, surge-driven operational needs across India's defence initiatives, meaning situations where demand for these systems rises suddenly and needs to be met fast. Esri India will also provide training support to help BEL build its own in-house capability in GIS and GeoAI using Esri's Indo ArcGIS platform.
 
The MoU was signed by Rajnish Sharma, director at BEL with additional charge as director of marketing, and Agendra Kumar, managing director of Esri India, in the presence of Ruchi Pant, general manager, and Anil Kumar Singh, general manager, both from BEL.
