BorgWarner Wins New Integrated Drive Module Program with Global Automaker

BorgWarner has secured a new contract to supply its integrated drive module (iDM) technology to a global automaker, with production expected to begin in 2027. An integrated drive module combines several core components of an electric vehicle's drivetrain into a single unit, and this award adds to BorgWarner's growing presence in electrified propulsion, built around its newest generation of this technology and a high degree of system integration.

 

Isabelle McKenzie, vice president of BorgWarner and president and general manager of its PowerDrive Systems business, said the award reflects the company's ongoing commitment to delivering advanced electrified drive solutions by combining its global technology portfolio with localized development and manufacturing capabilities. She said BorgWarner is proud to support its customer with a scalable, high-performance eDrive platform designed to meet their changing mobility needs.

 

The system itself is built around what BorgWarner calls a three-in-one integrated coaxial drive design, combining an electric motor, a gearbox, and a fully integrated inverter, called GenIV, into one compact, high-performance unit.
