TT Electronics Extends Partnership with Rolls-Royce to Supply Power Electronics for Future Aircraft

TT Electronics has announced a significant expansion of its long-running partnership with Rolls-Royce. Under a multi-million pound agreement, TT Electronics facilities in Bedlington and Barnstaple will supply high-reliability power electronics for all of Rolls-Royce's large civil aircraft engines throughout their operational lifetime.

 

The components involved, multi-chip power modules and precision magnetics, are effectively the technology that governs how each engine actually runs, making them mission-critical to aircraft performance. A multi-chip power module packages several semiconductor devices together to manage and convert electrical power efficiently, while precision magnetics refers to finely engineered inductors and transformers used to control electrical signals with high accuracy, both essential for reliably managing the power systems inside a jet engine.

 

Rob Relph, executive vice president of the Power Division at TT Electronics, said the agreement reflects the trust the two companies have built together in the UK over four decades, along with a shared ambition to advance engine technology and improve performance.
