Electronics Development Fund Invests ₹257.77 Crore in Eight Daughter Funds, Backing 128 Startups with ₹1,335.77 Crore in ESDM and IT

The Electronics Development Fund (EDF), established as a Fund of Funds by the Government of India, has invested ₹257.77 crore in eight SEBI-registered Daughter Funds as of June 30, 2026. These Daughter Funds have in turn invested ₹1,335.77 crore across 128 startups and companies in Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) and Information Technology (IT).

Canbank Venture Capital Funds Ltd. (CVCFL) serves as the fund manager, with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology acting as the anchor investor. The EDF selects investments through Daughter Funds based on criteria including innovation capability, indigenous technology development, intellectual property creation potential, technical capability of the founding team, and the presence of a scalable and commercially viable business model.

Investment Distribution by Location and Sector

The 128 investee companies are distributed as follows:

- Karnataka (Bangalore: 89 companies – 56 ESDM, 33 IT; Belagavi: 1 ESDM): ₹854.54 crore
- Telangana (Hyderabad: 7 companies – 3 ESDM, 4 IT): ₹129.97 crore
- Maharashtra (Mumbai: 4 companies – 2 ESDM, 2 IT; Pune: 4 companies – 2 ESDM, 2 IT): ₹142.48 crore
- Tamil Nadu (Chennai: 5 companies – 2 ESDM, 3 IT): ₹62.24 crore
- Delhi (Delhi: 6 companies – 3 ESDM, 3 IT): ₹99.2 crore
