Alignment Engine to Deploy AMD Helios AI Infrastructure in Ohio, Emphasizing Power and Cooling Efficiency
Alignment Engine has confirmed plans to deploy AMD's Helios rackscale AI infrastructure, powered by AMD Instinct MI455X GPUs, at its Ohio data center starting in 2027. The company says it chose this particular platform largely because of how it's engineered for power and cooling efficiency, something Alignment frames as central to building AI infrastructure that works well both for its customers and for the communities where its facilities are located.
That framing reflects a broader tension playing out in Ohio, which has become one of the country's biggest hubs for data center investment, alongside growing public concern about how much strain large-scale computing facilities put on local power grids and electricity costs. Alignment says its approach to this deployment was shaped directly by those concerns, prioritizing infrastructure designed for power efficiency, predictable impact on the grid, and transparency with local communities rather than just building capacity and hoping for the best.
