Mobileye's Cloud-Enhanced ADAS to Power Future Stellantis Vehicles Starting 2027

Mobileye, a company known for advanced driver assistance and autonomous vehicle technology, has announced that its Cloud-Enhanced Advanced Driver Assist system will be built into select future Stellantis vehicles starting in 2027, using crowdsourced road data to support both safety and convenience features.

With this deal, Stellantis becomes the latest automaker to adopt Mobileye's REM, or Road Experience Management, technology, a crowdsourced data system that now covers more than 95 percent of public roads across the United States and Europe. Five of the world's ten largest automakers currently feed data into REM, which last year drew on information from over 8 million vehicles and 34 billion miles of driving.

In practice, REM works by using the front-facing camera in vehicles equipped with Mobileye's EyeQ chip to collect anonymized data about the driving environment, things like curb locations, crosswalks, and typical driving paths. That data is sent to the cloud, processed into a continuously updated map of road signals, lane structures, typical driving speeds, and other contextual details, and then pushed back out to vehicles on the road.
