Redwire Opens New Indiana Facility to Advance Space-Based Drug Development and Research

Redwire Corporation, a company focused on space and defense technology, has opened a new 30,000-square-foot research and microgravity payload development facility in Georgetown, Indiana. The facility is intended to serve as a global hub as Redwire scales up its work in space-enabled research and manufacturing, with a particular emphasis on pharmaceutical and biotech innovation, work that relies on microgravity conditions to study drug formulations and biological processes in ways not possible on Earth.

Mike Gold, president of Redwire Space, described the Georgetown site as a cornerstone for the company's ability to scale up and support major programs globally, positioning it as part of a broader push to help build out the orbital economy, the growing commercial ecosystem around activities conducted in space. He said the work coming out of the facility is expected to support NASA's human spaceflight programs, help pharmaceutical and biotech partners make new discoveries, contribute to materials innovation spanning semiconductors and fiber optics, and help unlock the economic potential of future commercial space stations.
