Tower Semiconductor Announces Major Capacity Expansion in Japan, Backed by METI

Tower Semiconductor a foundry specializing in high-value analog semiconductor solutions, has announced a two-track strategic expansion of its 300mm Silicon Photonics, Silicon Germanium, and advanced packaging capabilities in Japan, supported by the Government of Japan. The expansion is intended to meet rapidly growing long-term customer demand, significantly increasing the company's manufacturing capacity while extending its position in these technologies.

Russell Ellwanger, Tower's CEO, said the company is honored that the Government of Japan selected Tower to lead the expansion of these strategically important technologies, describing the effort as building a globally differentiated center of excellence rooted in technology leadership, manufacturing excellence, and product quality. He noted that since becoming majority owner of the former Panasonic Semiconductor manufacturing operations, now known as TPSCo, the company has built a reputation for turning advanced innovation into high-volume manufacturing success.
