Wolfspeed Sues Navitas Semiconductor Over Alleged Patent Infringement
Wolfspeed a U.S. based pioneer in wide bandgap compound semiconductor technology, has announced that it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Navitas Semiconductor in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware.
The lawsuit claims that a broad range of Navitas products infringe on multiple Wolfspeed patents, including U.S. Patent Nos. 8,169,005, 10,998,418, 10,886,396, 10,749,443, and 11,888,392. The products named in the suit span several of Navitas's major product lines, including its GaN-based FETs, such as the GaNFast, GaNSlim, and GaNSafe families, as well as its GeneSiC MOSFETs and SiCPAK modules.
Wolfspeed has built a decades-long track record of technological leadership in silicon carbide (SiC) materials, gallium nitride (GaN)-based transistors, and SiC-based MOSFETs and modules. That history of innovation has resulted in a broad, foundational patent portfolio that the company says underpins much of the modern wide bandgap semiconductor industry.
Robert Feurle, Wolfspeed's CEO, said the company's foundational technology helped establish this industry, and that Wolfspe...
