Kurita Water Industries Establishes Kurita Membrane India Joint Venture for Semiconductor Water Treatment

Japan based Kurita Water has established Kurita Membrane India Private Limited as a joint venture with Membrane Group India Private Limited  and commenced operations. The JV focuses on water treatment solutions for the electronics industry, primarily the semiconductor sector, in India.

The establishment follows rising demand for semiconductors linked to generative AI growth and global efforts to expand and diversify production sites. India has recorded increased investments from domestic and international semiconductor companies, supported by government policies. The country’s semiconductor market is projected to grow from an estimated USD 15 billion in 2020 to over USD 64 billion by 2026 and USD 110 billion by 2030. A 10-year roadmap issued by NITI Aayog in May 2026 targets a semiconductor value chain of USD 120 billion to USD 150 billion by 2035.

Kurita supplies water treatment solutions for the electronics industry, including semiconductors, in Japan, East Asia, North America, and Europe. These solutions cover ultrapure water production and supply, as well as wastewater recovery and reuse. The JV aligns with Kurita’s medium-term management plan “Pioneering Shared Value 2027 (PSV-27),” which prioritizes growth in the electronics sector.
