Infineon Opens Smart Power Fab in Dresden, Doubling Power Semiconductor Capacity with €5 Billion Investment
Infineon Technologies AG opened its Smart Power Fab in Dresden today, several months ahead of schedule. The facility, representing a €5 billion investment, the largest single investment in the company's history and is described as the world's largest factory for intelligent power semiconductors and analog/mixed-signal technologies. It doubles Infineon's manufacturing capacities at the Dresden site and is expected to create 1,000 new direct jobs.
The fab focuses on chips used in energy-efficient solutions for automotive and industrial applications, including power supplies for AI data centers, renewable energy sources, power grids, and software-defined vehicles.

Infineon CEO Jochen Hanebeck stated: "We're opening our new plant at just the right time. Our Smart Power Fab is creating urgently needed capacities for the key technologies of the future, for everything from energy supply for AI data centers to software-defined vehicles and renewable energies."
