MetaOptics Ships Metalens-Integrated Smartphones and AI Smart Glasses for Customer Evaluation in Europe and Japan

MetaOptics  has begun shipping evaluation units of its metalens-integrated 5G smartphone and AI smart glasses to prospective customers across Europe, Japan, and the Philippines. The recipients include consumer electronics brands, telecom operators, and original design manufacturers  giving some of the world's most demanding technology markets a hands-on opportunity to test and assess metalens technology for potential integration into their own next-generation products.

The core innovation here is the metalens itself  a single, ultra-thin optical layer built using semiconductor manufacturing processes that replaces the bulky, multi-element lens stacks found in conventional camera modules. This means thinner devices, smaller form factors, and better heat resistance, without sacrificing optical performance. MetaOptics is one of the few companies capable of designing, manufacturing, and testing these lenses at scale, operating on both 4-inch and 12-inch production platforms a critical advantage when customers are evaluating technology for mass production readiness.

The 5G smartphone evaluation unit showcases several practical applications of metalens technology. It features a sleek, bump-free back design a notable departure from the protruding camera modules common on today's smartphones along wit...
