COSEIN 2026 at IISc Bengaluru Highlights Progress and Challenges in Building India's Semiconductor Ecosystem

The Conference on Semiconductor Ecosystem in India (COSEIN 2026), held at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru on 19th June, brought together more than 100 industry delegates along with academics, researchers, and government representatives. Participants engaged in focused discussions on capacity building, R&D partnerships, manufacturing gaps, and talent development, all aligned with the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM).
The seminar hall, with a seating capacity of around 800, was filled to capacity. Attendees listened and interacted with noticeably greater attentiveness and engagement than at similar events.

The event opened with a welcome address by Professor Sushobhan Awasthi of the Centre for Nanoscience and Engineering (CeNSE), IISc. Setting the tone with a historical note, he recalled that the conference began life in 2018 as MNFACS  a gathering of nano-facility managers trading notes on exhaust panels and hazardous chemical disposal.
