Sony announces plan to spin out semiconductor group into new business

Sony to spin out its semiconductor business from Sony Corporation to a new entity. Sony's semiconductor business is going well due to increase in revenue from image sensors. Sony is leading supplier of CMOS image sensor business, with its 2nd quarter Q2 2015 revenues of slightly over USD1 billion, good for over 42% of the worldwide market, nearly three times the revenue of its closest competitor, Samsung Electronics, according to analysis by IHS.
