ST's executives to speak at COMPUTEX on IoT, wearable and smart cities

STMicroelectronics announced that its Executive Vice President and President of Greater China and South Asia Region, Francois Guibert, and its Executive Vice President and General Manager of Analog, MEMS & Sensors Group, Benedetto Vigna, will speak at the COMPUTEX Taipei 2015 Summit Forum and Smart City Forum, respectively. The Internet of Things is a major opportunity to use technology to solve important global societal challenges and improve people’s lives. It will have a strong impact on infrastructure, industry standards, security, and business models, creating opportunities for everyone in the ecosystem. The two ST executives will discuss the key drivers, challenges, and implications of IoT, and share successful stories of how semiconductor technologies can bring smart living to consumers, from wearables to smart cities. International Data Corporation (IDC) has predicted the Asia/Pacific IoT industry will continue its strong growth, with the number of units - or 'things' - connected to increase from 3.1 billion in 2015 to 8.6 billion by 2020. Over the same period, the total Asia/Pacific IoT market, excluding Japan, will increase from $250 billion (Bt8.09 trillion) to $583 billion.
