ST and Tsinghua University establish joint embedded sys/electronics lab

STMicroelectronics and Tsinghua University (THU) have established Tsinghua-STM32 Embedded Association for the study, research, exchange, and practical development of technologies and training of undergraduates interested in embedded systems covering areas such as the Internet of Things, aircraft, and smart devices.

In this collaboration, ST will provide Tsinghua University with IC products and related hardware, as well as support on both technical and financial levels to facilitate student education in the design and development of innovative electronics projects in embedded systems. Tsinghua will make available its general-purpose facilities, premises, and the management of the Association.

Members of the Association demonstrated their projects, which included a Tri-rotor and Quad-rotor, at the inauguration event. The projects utilized key technologies such as multi-sensor data fusion, flight control, and real-time operating systems. One project demonstrated preliminary autonomous hover, on the Quad-rotor, with the ultimate goal of establishing a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) system to monitor and track targets beyond visual range.
