TÜV Rheinland India recognized by BIS to test 15 electronics products

Bangalore based TÜV Rheinland India is recognized by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), to perform testing as per Indian Standards for the 15 electronics & IT product categories that are mandated by Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India. TÜV Rheinland India is a subsidiary of TÜV Rheinland Group, Germany. The Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India had in a notification announced that with effect from 3rd April’13, certain electronics and IT product categories would need to mandatorily register with BIS for ensuring safety standards. The regulation is seen as a step by the Government of India towards bridging the gap between people, technology and safety while ensuring safer products to Indian consumers. It is estimated that around 5000 to 7000 products will get impacted by the new regulation, which calls for mandatory testing of these products in the BIS recognized laboratories as per the applicable Indian standards followed by registration with BIS. Currently there are 5 laboratories which are recognized by BIS for the regulatory compliance testing, TUV Rheinland (India) being the latest addition and the only international certification body with full scope of recognition.
