Murata Manufacturing has introduced the MGJ1T series, a range of 6kVDC isolated 1W surface-mount DC-DC converters designed for powering high-side and low-side gate drive circuits in inverter, power conversion, and motor drive systems. The MGJ1T series targets applications including energy storage systems (ESS/BESS), microgrids, EV charging infrastructure, industrial motor drives, and high-voltage power converters. The converters use Murata’s proprietary block-coil transformer technology and are manufactured in the UK.

The series supports nominal input voltages of 12V, 15V, and 24V, with regulated dual outputs of +15V/-3V, +15V/-5V, and +18V/-2.5V. Each device undergoes 100% production HiPot testing to 6kVDC for one second and is qualified to the same level for one minute. It is recognized to UL62368-1, providing reinforced insulation with an 800Vrms working voltage and 2.2kVDC continuous barrier withstand voltage. Internal construction provides 14mm creepage and clearance.
The MGJ1T series offers common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) greater than 200kV/μs and typical isolation capacitance of 2.5pF. It operates at a switching frequency of approximately 700kHz, with typical ripple and noise of 10mVp-p and efficiencies up to 77%. The converters maintain regulation across load conditions and support reliable start-up into capacitive loads.
The operating temperature range is -40°C to +115°C. Reliability testing includes 1000 temperature cycles between -40°C and +125°C, along with humidity, vibration, shock, and ESD testing per JEDEC standards. The series is also characterized for partial discharge performance.
The MGJ1T series is packaged in a compact surface-mount format compatible with standard Pb-free reflow processes and is supplied in tape-and-reel packaging. It is designed for high-density PCB layouts. The MGJ1T series is being showcased at PCIM 2026 (Hall 9, Booth 404) from June 9-11 at the Nuremberg Messe in Germany.
