Intel introduced the Intel Core processor Series 2 with P-cores at Embedded World 2026, positioning it as an industrial-ready platform for mission-critical edge applications. The processors target challenges in industrial operations requiring simultaneous handling of multiple critical workloads, including safety-critical control systems and real-time data processing, with precise timing and deterministic performance. They aim to reduce the need for multi-processor architectures that increase costs and complexity.

Compared to the AMD Ryzen 7 9700X, Intel Core Series 2 processors provide up to 4.4x lower maximum PCIe latency, up to 2.5x more deterministic response time, up to 3.8x better deterministic performance, and up to 1.5x higher multi-thread performance.
Intel also announced the Edge AI Suite for Health & Life Sciences, which includes validated reference pipelines and benchmarking tools for AI-powered patient monitoring solutions. The suite demonstrates concurrent, multimodal workloads running locally on Intel processors, such as AI-based electrocardiogram (ECG) arrhythmia detection, remote photoplethysmography, and anonymous 3D visual tracking.
These capabilities support OEMs, ODMs, and ISVs in evaluating platforms with representative healthcare scenarios rather than synthetic benchmarks.
Dan Rodriguez, Intel corporate vice president and general manager of the Edge Computing Group, stated that edge computing remains one of Intel's fastest-growing segments. He noted that with the Core Series 2 introduction, the CES launch of Core Ultra Series 3, and expanding Edge AI Suites, Intel delivers platforms addressing diverse edge needs with performance, reliability, and integrated AI acceleration.
Together with the Core Ultra Series 3 processors, the Core Series 2 with P-cores and the Health & Life Sciences Edge AI Suite form part of Intel's edge portfolio covering deterministic real-time control to advanced AI acceleration for manufacturing, healthcare, and emerging applications.
Edge systems powered by Intel Core Ultra Series 3 and Intel Core Series 2 with P-cores are available now.
A preview version of the Edge AI Suite for Health & Life Sciences is accessible on GitHub, with general availability planned for Q2 2026.
