TDK Corporation introduced the B43655 and B43656 series of aluminum electrolytic capacitors for DC links in on-board chargers (OBCs) of electric vehicles. Both series support forced cooling operation and address requirements for higher voltages and currents in next-generation OBC platforms. Their compact design and high ripple current capability suit applications needing efficiency and reliability in limited space.

The B43655 series has voltage ratings of 475 V and 500 V, with capacitances from 110 µF to 880 µF, targeting 800 V battery architectures in e-mobility. It is designed for base cooling and high ripple current density, with a useful life exceeding 3,000 hours at +105 °C. Maximum ripple current reaches 3.29 A at +105 °C, and ESR values go down to 100 mΩ to reduce power losses.

The B43656 series is rated at 450 V and supports higher currents up to 4.42 A at +105 °C, fitting high-power OBC topologies.

Both series use compact snap-in designs with diameters from 22 mm to 35 mm and lengths from 25 mm to 60 mm, depending on capacitance and voltage.

They are qualified to AEC-Q200 Rev. E and use RoHS-compliant materials.

The B43655 and B43656 series will be added to TDK’s web-based AlCap Useful Life Calculation Tool.
